HFCL partners with Qualcomm to launch world’s first Open source Wi-Fi 7 products under its IO product line

HFCL becomes the first OEM to launch Open source Wi-Fi 7 Access Points, based on the IEEE 802.11be – a revolutionary Wi-Fi technology that is designed to deliver Extremely High Throughput (EHT), higher spectral efficiency, better interference mitigation, and Real Time Applications (RTA) support. Wi-Fi 7 uses faster connections with 320MHz and 4kQAM, multiple connections with Multi Link operation and Adaptive Connections for adaptive interference puncturing to deliver all enhanced user’s experience while offering better power efficiency. Compared to all improvements in previous Wi-Fi standards, Wi-Fi 7 promises a huge technological leap, offering an immersive experience to its users, ushering the world towards a digitally stronger path. HFCL’s Wi-Fi 7 APs will support peak data rates of over 10 Gbps and will offer latency under 2 ms compared to 5 Gbps and 10 ms of current Wi-fi 6 products.

-With Beam Forming feature, Access Point detects where the device requesting the data is located and transmits a more localized data stream in that direction, instead of broadcasting data in all directions, leading to improved speed and high-performance.

-MU-MIMO (Multi-user, multiple-input, multiple-output) enables splitting device data into multiple streams for improved Internet efficiency. Channels are split into even smaller chunks so numerous users can experience simultaneous transmissions.

-1024-QAM (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) allows more bits to be encoded per symbol transmission over the air using the encoding technology. With this data-encoding density boosted up to 25 percent within the same spectrum, it becomes easier to support more devices simultaneously, even if devices are running throughput-intensive streaming or video apps.

NEW DELHI: HCFL on Tuesday signed a distribution agreement with Ingram Micro India Pvt. Ltd.  for its ‘IO’ line of products.

HFCL’s product portfolio includes WiFi 5 and WiFi 6 access points, point-to-point and point-to-multi point unlicensed band radios, L2 and L3 switches and specialised antennas which are designed, developed and manufactured in India keeping in view the global specifications.

The Government launched Trusted Telecom Portal in June 2021 under the Cyber Wing of the NSCS to bring enhanced supervision and effective control over nationwide telecom networks. The development has come following the Government’s efforts to ensure security of telecom networks, especially with fifth generation (5G) service on the anvil. To address the perineal problem of increase in cyberattacks, intelligence gathering, which comes, laced with the growth in data consumption, the Government of India announced the directives which mandated the Indian TSPs  to  connect their networks only on those new devices designated as ‘Trusted Products’ from ‘Trusted Sources’. Trusted Products are products whose critical components and the products themselves are sourced from Trusted Sources. The TSPs are required to log into the Trusted Telecom Portal of the Government of India and clearly highlight their vendors and sources which should be from the government approved list of the ‘Trusted Products’ and ‘Trusted Sources’.
